  • Solo Leveling, there are already news and rumors about the Netflix live-action

It’s worth noting that Netflix, that super popular streaming site, is working on a live-action Solo Leveling series. There’s a little update on this full adaptation of the much-loved anime and I reckon it’s big enough to get the fans excited.

A job posting on the Korean Filmmakers Community forum has finally blown the lid off a new series for Netflix that should start filming in April 2026 – but it’s only got 7 episodes and the cast has already been chosen, so not much to get too worked up about just yet. We’ve seen this news splattered all over social media and news outlets, but so far no one has managed to find a direct link between this job listing and Solo Leveling – although one intrepid user on X did toss out the idea that it might be for Solo Leveling and for some reason, the entire fandom just assumed it was a given. If it is, then we might be in for a bit of a surprise (and judging from the social media chatter on this job listing, some people are already feeling a little disappointed).

Amidst all this uncertainty – there’s actually some better news out there, as well: while its not the Solo Leveling adaption we’re all waiting for, apparently Netflix confirmed at a recent function in Korea that the Solo Leveling anime will still be leading the way on the visual effects for the show, which is a little something to get us all excited again.

On a side note, we’re looking at a release date for the live-action series of either late 2027 or early 2028, with production – hopefully – starting this year.

Solo Leveling, for the uninitiated, is a story about Jin-woo, the weakest of the hunters in this monster-infested world. This guy gets a pretty unique leveling system after a near-death experience, which lets him grow in power and develop as a character all at the same time. It’s the kind of mix of action, personal development and survival that makes for a great story. There’s that anime that came out from A-1 Pictures just last year, and it became a global hit in no time – people loved the way it balanced all the action with the character development, and the acclaim just kept on coming.
